It’s Time We Rethink What We’ve Been Told About Pet Health

For years, we’ve trusted the professionals. The ads. The brochures in vet offices. The pet food labels with shiny claims and convenient promises. But what if much of what we’ve been told about pet health… isn’t the full truth?

What if our animals — the ones we care for deeply — have been the first to experience a health system that’s more focused on control and profit than true wellbeing?

The good news? We’re waking up.
The even better news? You can make different choices — starting now. In this article I give an overview of some of the main areas that for you to consider that can transform your pets health and give them the best chance of living a long, healthy and happy life. Resources are given at the end.

Pets First: The Hidden Test Subjects of Modern Health

Pet owners today are overwhelmed with options — vaccines, processed food, parasite treatments, behavioural drugs, surgeries — all sold as necessary, safe, and essential.

But look a little closer and a pattern emerges.
Our animals have been the testing ground for systems that are now being widely used in human health: mass medication, synthetic food, environmental toxins, and routine procedures that aren’t always in their best interest.

This isn’t about blame — it’s about awakening.

When we know better, we do better.

1. Kibble: The Most Defended “Nutrition”

Let’s say it clearly:
Kibble is not real food.
It’s ultra-processed, heat-damaged, and filled with starches, synthetic vitamins and minerals, and meat by-products. And yet, it’s marketed as “complete and balanced.” If you really looked into what is in the tinned food and kibble you would be horrified!

Why?
Because it’s cheap to produce, easy to store, and highly profitable — especially when sold through vet clinics backed by big pet food corporations.

But long-term studies and common sense point to the truth:

Processed food is contributing to chronic health issues — from skin problems and gut dysbiosis to cancer and immune disorders.

What to do instead:
Feed real, species-appropriate food — raw or gently cooked.
I have free video playlists and full courses to help you get started (for both dogs and cats) – see below. Its time to make time for what really matters – our animals depend on us, it is the least we can do for them and it’s much easier than you think.

2. Annual Boosters: Outdated and Potentially Harmful

Core vaccines are a hot topic, and for good reason. While some ‘may‘ provide useful protection, the practice of routine annual boosters without titer testing is not only unnecessary — it can be dangerous.

Most pet owners don’t know:

  • A Great Dane and a Chihuahua often receive the same dose.
  • No consideration for weight, age, immune history, or current health.
  • Risks include autoimmune disease, seizures, chronic inflammation, and behavioural changes.
  • Certain breeds are at a higher risk for vaccination reactions than others.

This isn’t “anti-vax” — it’s pro-informed consent.
We must start asking what’s really needed, and what’s just tradition and industry pressure.

3. Natural Remedies: Powerful — and Suppressed

Herbs, homeopathy, energy medicine, essential oils… these natural therapies have helped humans and animals for centuries. But they’re often dismissed as “woo woo” or “unproven” — not because they lack results, but because they can’t be patented.

You can’t patent a dandelion — but you can sell a synthetic copy.

Big Pharma has long discredited natural tools that empower individuals to heal without dependency. But true wellness comes from supporting the body’s natural ability to detox, repair, and balance — not just masking symptoms.

What to do instead:
Incorporate safe, evidence-backed natural remedies into your animal’s health plan. I offer education, consults, and courses to guide you.

4. Vets: Trusted, But Often Limited by the System

Most veterinarians truly care. But their training is deeply influenced by pharmaceutical companies and processed pet food brands — from university curriculums to clinic sponsorships.

This often limits their toolbox to:

  • Drugs
  • Surgery
  • Kibble

Holistic vets are still the minority — but they’re growing. They look at the whole animal, including diet, emotional health, toxins, environment, and more.

What to do instead:
Look for integrative or holistic vets where possible. And remember — you are your animal’s primary advocate.

5. Toxins: Everywhere and Rarely Addressed

Our pets are exposed to more toxins than ever:

  • Flea and tick chemicals
  • Over-vaccination
  • Processed food
  • Household cleaners
  • Pesticides in parks
  • Mold, plastics, and EMFs

These exposures accumulate silently, burdening your animal’s liver, kidneys, and immune system. The result? Chronic illness, behavioural issues, skin conditions, and reduced vitality.

What to do instead:
Implement gentle, ongoing detox practices — tailored to your animal’s biology. Start with Clean Slate or Pure Clean Pets. If you need guidance, reach out for a consult.

6. Fresh Food: The Most Feared (and Powerful) Tool

Suggest fresh, raw, or gently cooked meals — and people panic.
But animals have thrived on whole foods for millennia.

So why the fear?

Because we’ve been sold the idea that:

  • Kibble is complete.
  • Real food is dangerous.
  • It’s “too hard” to do right.

None of these are true — and the results speak for themselves when people make the switch.

7. Common Sense: The Most Forgotten Healer

You know your animal better than anyone.
If something doesn’t sit right — trust that.
If their health changes after a treatment — question it.
If advice goes against your instincts — get a second opinion.

Common sense and connection are powerful tools.
Don’t underestimate them.

What to do instead:
Observe. Learn. Stay curious. Don’t be afraid to challenge the narrative.
